My name is Shaun Baker. My wife Karen and I are the local Salvation Army Officers and we moved to Cambridge from Queenstown at the beginning of 2016. We have 3 children at Cambridge Primary School (Cholae 10, Joel 8 and Liam 6).
Almost 12 months ago Karen and I became the School Chaplains and we have found this role to be extremely rewarding. The main purpose of our chaplaincy work is to provide support to any of the school community (students, staff and parents/caregivers) who may be dealing with difficult circumstances and we are very grateful that the school and The Salvation Army have allowed us the opportunity to function in this way.
One of my passions at Cambridge Primary School is making sure that we have great support systems in place, not just for the students but for the entire school community. I’m extremely passionate about seeing families ‘thrive, not just survive’ and to a large degree I’m able to feed this passion through my role as a Salvation Army Officer and as a Chaplain.
My aim as a board member is to represent the families of this school in a way which helps and inspires our children to achieve greater things than they ever imagined while at the same time, maintaining great support networks for the entire school community.
