Dear Parents, Caregivers & Whaanau,
This message is to inform you that a concerning interaction took place in Cambridge recently. An older male driver of a silver/grey car approached a primary-aged child. He tried to coax the child into his car. The child refused and is safe and well.
Please have a conversation with your child/ren about keeping themselves safe by not interacting with people they don't know. Please set clear routines around getting to and from school each day. The police are aware, and as a community, we will stay vigilant to keep our tamariki safe.
We recommend the following practices for the safety of our children:
- Collect your child from the school grounds instead of an unsupervised meeting place
- When walking through from Hally's Lane car park, walk (don't run) with your child and watch out for moving cars
- Please don't use the staff car park, next to the pool, as a thoroughfare
