School Costs & Payments

School Amenities Donation

Our school has a voluntary school amenities donation annually per student. This voluntary donation supports the Operational funding that the school receives from the Ministry of Education. This funding never allows for extra opportunities for students and therefore any donations made certainly enhances the learning opportunities the school is able to provide to students. The amount is set by the Board of Trustees each year and deemed to be an acceptable amount per student.

Need to make a payment to the school?

Cambridge Primary School Account Number:  Our account number is:  12-3268 0023215-00.  Account name is:  Cambridge Primary School Board.

Please use your child's full name and what the payment is for as a reference e.g. Tom Brown Y4 Camp.

Please note this CPS account differs too, and therefore should not be used for PTA or Four Peaks payments. Their account numbers can be found on the PTA and Four Peaks pages of the website.

Police Vetting for Volunteers

All parents staying overnight at school camps (or planning on doing so in the future)  need to be Police Vetted.  Police vet forms are valid for three years. They are a requirement under our health and safety policies.

A One Step Plan and the Police Vetting forms for completing can be found here.

Or request a copy of the form by emailing admin@cambridgeprimary.co.nz . A hard copy will then be sent home with your child. These forms only take a minute to fill in and results remain confidential.

The forms need to be completed and returned to Cambridge Primary School with 2 forms of current identification.

School Policies

All school Policies can be found at www.schooldocs.co.nz

Please search for  "Cambridge Primary School” and "enter”.

When prompted enter "cambridge" (all lower case) as the username and password.

IPad, App and Internet Safety

Watch this video to learn how to set restrictions onto your iPhone, iPod and iPads.  This shows you how to prevent your child installing inappropriate Apps, it shows how to set the level of the content to an appropriate age level for your child and it shows you how to block content.

SMART Rules

Here is an  excellent video clip that promotes internet safety for children.  They are a great way to demonstrate to children not to give out personal details and the risks of some online games.  A great watch for parents.

Here is a disturbing article about children from a school and Grand Theft Auto. Grand Theft Auto is iTunes rated R18+ for Violence, Sexual References and Profanity and no child at Cambridge Primary School should be playing this game.

Home Learning

Home learning is designed to provide a positive link between home and school. Students commit to an independent task four nights per week, which reinforces and extends the classroom programme to enhance teaching and learning.

The class teacher:

  • outlines expectations, routines, and suggested time requirements for homework to students and parents at the start of the year

  • sets homework that reflects students’ changing ages and stages, individual needs, and reinforces teaching, learning and creativity

  • sets homework which considers our school's key competencies: Adventuring and Exploring, Citizenship, Communication, Self Identity and Thinking.

  • monitors home learning and provides feedback and/or feedforward to students and parents

  • ensures students understand their home learning tasks and can work independently, where possible

  • communicates home learning concerns to parents

  • reviews the home learning programme each term to ensure maximum student engagement (this will be completed at team level).

Students:

  • are responsible for their own home learning in terms of completion and time management

  • take pride in their presentation

  • understand their home learning tasks and work as independently as possible.

Parents:

  • encourage and support their children

  • provide feedback to the child and the teacher

  • communicate with the teacher if their child is unable to complete the homework, or if family or other circumstances take priority.

Process:

  1. Home learning is introduced and explained verbally to students by the teacher.

  2. Home learning will be checked by the classroom teacher.
