Kia ora koutou,

My name is Justin Bertrand, and I’m really proud to be joining Cambridge Primary School as your new Principal. I’m a long-standing Cambridge resident, and I feel genuinely lucky to be living and working in a community that cares so deeply about its young people.

Outside of school, I enjoy time with my family.  My wife, Claire, and our two girls, Annelise and Georgia, are very much the centre of my world, and you’ll often find us making the most of what Cambridge offers - sport, events, good food, and time together.  I’ve worked in education for many years, and I still consider it a privilege to serve families and help create the conditions where children can thrive - academically, socially, and emotionally.

I’ve long admired Cambridge Primary School for its strong reputation, its culture of care, and the way it continues to innovate while staying true to what matters. I’m looking forward to working alongside our fantastic teachers and support staff, and to getting to know our students and their whaanau over time.

As I begin, my focus is simple: to watch, listen, learn, and understand what makes CPS the incredible school it is.  I’m committed to honouring the tradition, quality, and innovation kaupapa that has been built over many years, and to being a steady, supportive presence as I learn the CPS story - past, present, and future.
