Mandarin
Mandarin Language Lessons are offered to all students as part of the school Arts Programme. This is delivered to each Syndicate by Mrs Stephani Chia on a Thursday.
Term Outline:
Children will be covering the two aspects of the Learning Languages curriculum. Language & culture.
Yr 1 - Language - Developing character pronunciation. Focus words will include greetings, numbers and family. Culture - Developing their knowledge of chinese children's games.
Yr 3&4 - Language - Decoding pin yin (helping pronunciation of characters). Focus words will include greetings, numbers and family. Culture - Children will create simple art work, and learn traditional children’s games.
Yr 5&6 - Language - Decoding pin yin (helping pronunciation of characters). Focus on using using different tones. Culture - Children will create simple art work, learn traditional children’s games , research of chinese culture, bingo games for reinforcing translation.
